My Review:
Something happened in the life of Carlene Adams, a few years ago, that left her soul scarred and her heart heavy with guilt. She never dreamed of finding an anchor in her, otherwise chaotic, life ever again but then she met Nick Johnson and fell in love for the second time in her life. But now her dirty secret is out leaving Nick devastated and hateful of her. As if this is not enough, her job is also in danger and betrayal by people she loves not far behind.
What was the horrid secret that Carlene tried her level best to hide so much so that she even changed her name to run from it?
I loved the way Dori developed Carlene’s character as per the requirements of the story and also was impressed with the way she takes us into the past and the technique by which she joins the past events with the present scenarios. The characterization is crisp and their emotions heartfelt. Although the other characters like Nick’s mother’s character etc. are expertly portrayed, I was a bit disappointed with Nick’s character. His part is not played out to its full potential and I would have loved if he was given more limelight to show his true feelings. I could not connect with Nick like I did in the first book. Also their reconciliation came too swiftly and I guess, I felt it so sudden because I had been hoping for more fight on that front.
Other than these small glitches, this is a very touching and interesting story that will keep you engaged till the very end. A short and a few hours well spent, this book leaves the reader in anticipation of the next book in the series which will be the story of Melisa, Carlene’s best friend. A 4 out of 5 to it and I highly recommend this book to everyone and also the first book in the “Moments in Time” series. A well written love story by a very promising author, Dori is an author you don’t want to miss.
The book is suited only for readers above 18 years of age due to its explicit content.
I received an ARC copy of the book from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
