My Review:
Andrea Hampton has always been the “cool, conservative” and playing-safe sister unlike her other sibling Rachel who is “loving, caring” and not afraid to take chances. It is this streak in Rachel which has made her come up with this not so practical idea of converting their grandmother’s house to a Bread and Breakfast. As if this is not stupid enough their grandmother is right in it and instead of talking “some sense into her”, she is going along with this idea.
Now Rachel is in hospital and it is up to Andrea to get the B&B off the ground before the opening week. Conflicted between her sense of responsibility towards her job which is at a crucial stage and her family that needs her, will Andrea make the right choice?
Adding to her troubles are the recent break-ins and prowler sightings at her grandmother’s house. Hardened and not trusting by nature due to her traumatic past, Andrea has trouble believing anyone. Even the very handsome and seemingly genuine, Cal.
Will Andrea be able to take the right decisions at the right time?
Who is targetting her family and why?
Is it someone who doesn’t want their B&B to get popular? Or are there some other secrets buried in the house?
What is Cal’s past? Why is he so evasive and what is he doing here in this faraway Amish town when clearly he is a city dweller?
What will Andrea and Cal do about this attraction they feel for each other? Will they have a happily-ever-after or will their secrets destroy their relationship even before it starts?

This is my first book by Marta Perry as well as my first Amish fiction and it came as a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I was sucked in the story right from the start and felt instantly connected to the characters who are all people we feel we know or have met at one or the other time in our lives. I could empathize with Andrea who has suffered in her childhood and being the eldest of her siblings had to take up the role of a grown up early on in her life. Cal has his own share of regrets and secrets. He has foregone his earlier life and never wants to return to it and is equally determined to keep it a secret. I loved the warm and so grandmotherly type Katherine who is funny, loving, gracious but also very stubborn and set in her ways. Rachel is the warm, friendly and impulsive sister who acts first and thinks later. There are other characters also like Emma, Nick etc. who add more color and character to the story. 🙂
The mystery and suspense element is also very beautifully handled and the reader is kept hooked till the very end. The romance between Cal and Andrea is slow but it has its moments.
A sweet romantic suspense that will keep you hooked and turning pages eagerly, I give Hide in Plain Sight a 4 out of 5 and recommend it to all romance lovers who love a suspense/mystery twist to the happily-ever-afters. 🙂

This sounds like a good one. I have read this author once before and liked her. 🙂
I have enjoyed the Marta Perry books I have read. Glad you enjoyed this one as well.
I haven't read any Amish fiction before but this definitely has me intrigued. I'm glad you enjoyed it – I may have to check it out for myself.
