Can the embers of an old life ignite the flames of a new love?
Six
years ago, Melisa Bergfeld’s husband died. As the grief of losing him
tore into her, she lost his last gift to her—their unborn child—and her
hopes and dreams turned to ashes.
Left with a life she no longer wants, she seeks salvation in a homeless shelter. For a while, that’s more than enough.
But when a fire breaks out, in walks the man who will try to save her life—if she’ll let him.
Florian
“Heat” Dane has left behind a trail of broken hearts in his wake,
including pieces of his own. For all the girls he’s used to fill the
hole in his heart, there has been just one he could never erase from his
memories. But when Melisa married his best friend Scott Bergfeld, he
knew she would never be his the way she’d been the one unforgettable
night they spent together. Now that she’s back in his life, he will do
anything to recapture her heart, even if it means giving away his own.
Heat
still has the power to ignite passion in Melisa, something she both
desires and rejects. He’s a known heartbreaker, and if there is one
thing Melisa doesn’t need, it’s another crack in her heart. But when he
confesses his love for her, she fears her secrets from the past will
surface. And she might be the one to break his heart this time.
My Review:
We met Melisa in the first two books of the “Moments in Time” series and this book is Melisa’s story of getting her happily-ever-after. I had immensely enjoyed the first two books in the series and am supremely happy to say that I loved this book even better. This is the best book in the series in terms of the plot, characterization, events construction and the narration.
Dori Lavelle has grown as an author which shows when you read this book. I was able to compare her previous books with this one and could clearly see the improvements. The characters are better woven, the mystery and suspense is better paced and the romance is sensuous as usual but more emotionally linked. I was pulled in the story right from the start and whenever I felt like the plot was getting predictable, the author threw a new twist in the tale and totally shocked me.
I loved Melisa’s growth as a character. She is more approachable and real in this book than in the previous ones. She is trying to turn her life around and willing to take proactive steps. Heat has always loved Melisa and I loved his dedication in making his relationship with Melisa work. He loves her and shows her enough times that he will do anything to take care of her. I loved their scenes together and was very happy with the overall progress in their relationship. Not that I had any say in it! 🙂
Carlene and Nick are happily married and I just loved the new developments in their life. Carlene and Melisa’s friendship is so beautifully nurtured and developed in this series. In this book, Dori introduces readers with more people from Melisa’s past and I loved Melisa’s long lost friends like Josie. Wrapping up all the loose ends in this book, the author does a great job in bringing this beautiful series to a closure.
Although there is a sort of a cliffhanger at the end but it didn’t affect my happiness at seeing two so lovely people together.
All in all, a very sweet and totally engrossing love story between two people who have made their fair share of mistakes in their lives and are now trying to finally listen to their heart and turn their life around.
A must read for all romance lovers, I give Bittersweet Moments a 4.5 out of 5 and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

Very nice review. I agree that the whole series is a wonderful read. While this could easily be the end, I hope Dori Lavelle continues with more of the characters from her small town.
