Book Review:
Mita Ramphul has had it with all the “Nice young” men she is always being forced to meet by her overprotective, matchmaking uncle. She is fed up with all the talks she has had with her family urging them to give her time to experience life before she saddles herself with a husband. But do they listen? Not one bit!
So when the very handsome Tanay Devkumar fibs about being her boyfriend, she is all too willing to let the charade go on.
Just an act at first, their attraction soon turns to true love. What will Mita and Tanay do?
Can two people who hate each other ever fall in love of the forever kind?
I loved the cover of the book which gives an instant feel of hot sands and cool oceans! 🙂
The blurb is very intriguing and piqued my interest enough to take up the book to read and review. This is the debut novel of the author but nowhere did I feel that Reet had never written a book before this!
The story is set in the beautiful country of Mauritius. Reet brings out the beauty of the land admirably along with intricately knitting the story to suit the place. The characters are people we often see around us and I felt like I knew the people in the book!
The characterization is good and people realistic. The characters of Mita and Tanay will make you feel that this is a M&B you are reading. Tanay is our M&B style alpha male with a dangerous streak to his behavior. He can be a true gentleman and then suddenly become rude with a crudeness to his behavior that attracts as well as makes the ladies’ hearts flutter! Thus, making him a true bad boy. 🙂
There romance is bang on sensuous, hot and scorching. The confusion these characters feel regarding their emotions and feelings for each other is beautifully conveyed by Reet and sincerely felt by the readers.
The writing style of the author is simple and yet captivating. The story is medium paced but does not lag anywhere. The reader is kept interested and invested in the story right till the end. The book is written to entertain which it does. A light, breezy read that gives the readers a welcome reprieve from their hectic lives, Reet does a good job here. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
While I loved the story with its many tantalizing turns and pauses, I was still left feeling a bit dissatisfied at the end. While the story handles the past of Mita that she has been searching for, like forever, beautifully and the love angle between Mita and Tanay is brought to completion admirably but the initial misunderstanding part with Mita’s best friend, Sammy and his wife is not given proper closure. I kept thinking that now that they are together, they would go and make things right with a proper face-to-face, thus, giving a closure to the previous scene where they just left Sammy’s wife hanging with uncertainty. Also I would have loved the story even more if there would have been scenes with their families and a wedding added at the end.
Overall, this is an entertaining romance that will keep you hooked and leave you sighing at the end. A perfect holiday read that will take you to the distant and heavenly land of Mauritius as well as give you a scorching dose of romance, I give Scorched by his Fire a 4 out of 5 and recommend it to all romance lovers.
I received the book from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
