ARC Book Review:
The Stranger by Anna Del Mar is the first book by the author that I have read and I enjoyed the story. This is the second book in A Wounded Warrior series but can be read as a standalone.
Summer Silva has travelled to Alaska in search of her younger sister but gets stranded one night and is rescued by Seth Erickson. The story starts with their not liking each other which soon changes and sparks fly.
The plot is well conceived and executed by the author and I enjoyed her writing style. She uses sleep walking, mysterious disappearance of Summer’s sister, the dangerous killer after her and the whole secretive hero and spunky heroine formula with ease and expertise.
I have to confess that I didnt like Seth in the beginning but then as his character was developed, I came to understand his actions and motivations better. He comes across as dominating and controlling at times but his care and love for Summer was also apparent. Overall, his is a complex character that only a strong character like Summer’s could handle.
Summer, on the other hand, has lived a scheduled and planned life. She has secrets and issues of her own that have kept her prisoner until now. It was interesting and also eerie reading “one of her episodes”. She is loyal towards her family and I loved how much she loved them to leave everything behind and come to Alaska searching for her sister.
The romance is hot, emotionally rich and heartfelt and the danger feels most real. I shivered thinking about the mystery killer after Summer and what he would do next! The suspense portion is very well done and this book will appeal to all suspense and mystery lovers.
The secondary characters are also given their due limelight and I enjoyed meeting both Erick’s and Summer’s family and hope to read more about them in the future books.
All in all, The Stranger by Anna Del Mar is an entertaining romantic suspense that took me to Alaska and made feel the beauty, the wilderness and the cold of the place as well as the danger that lurked at every turn and the lovely forever kind love between the protagonists. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all romantic suspense lovers above the age of eighteen.
I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
soothe the soul, challenge the mind, and satisfy the heart. Her stories focus
on strong heroines struggling to find their place in the world and the brave,
sexy, kickass, military heroes who defy the limits of their broken bodies to
protect the women they love. Anna enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and the
sea. Writing is her addiction, her drug of choice, and what she wants to do all
the time. The extraordinary men and women she met during her years as a Navy
wife inspire the fabulous heroes and heroines at the center of her stories.
When she stays put—which doesn’t happen very often—she lives in Florida with
her indulgent husband and two very opinionated cats.
