caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy / Colin Firth fan.
romance (what else?) and spends time with her family.
Q1. Tell us about your new release?
Book 2 in the Bistro La Bohème series comes out in October, picking up where “What If It’s Love?” left off. It’s the story of the rocky relationship between two of the characters the reader has already met in Book 1 (Jeanne and Mat).
I began at six, stopped at 23 and then started again a year ago. After 17 years of denial, I finally admitted that I couldn’t NOT write.
Q3.State a random fact about yourself that would surprise your readers
I discovered and fell in love with romance books only a few years ago. Until then I’d been a hardcore science fiction fan.
Q4. Do you listen to music while writing?
Yes, it helps me concentrate
Q5. Do you write at a laptop/desktop or do you write freehand?
My laptop that follows me everywhere. It’s become an extension of my brain.
Q6. Do you have any advice for unpublished authors?
Stop waiting for a miracle. Publish to Amazon.
Q7. What is it you love most about writing? What’s the hardest part of writing for you?
I love writing dialogue. Narrative is another story…
Q8. How long did it take you to write your current book?
About a year.
Q9. Did you know the title before you started writing?
No, but I knew the names of the hero and heroine. So, for most of the writing, the book was called “Lena and Rob”.
Q10. What was your favorite scene?
I have two favorite scenes in this book. One is the first kiss scene in Lena’s apartment. The second one is when Rob, Lena and Jeanne talk about Paris and love in La Bohème’s cozy backyard.
Q11.Could you describe to us your typical writing day?
There is no such thing for me. With a day job and a family, I must be ready to write whenever and wherever there’s an opportunity (which is why my laptop is always with me).
Q12. Did you do any research before start or during of the writing of the books?
I do most of my research after I complete the first draft.
Q13. Where do you get your inspiration?
Check out the “Inspirations” page on my blog for a list of books and movies (with trailers): http://www.alixnichols.com/inspirations.html
Q14. How important do you find the communication between you and your readers? Do you reply to their messages or read their reviews?
I read every review and reply to every message. Hearing from the readers is vital for me.
Q15. Do you prefer Twitter or Facebook?
I’m firmly in the Facebook camp.
Q16. How many more books can we expect in this series?
The current plan is for six novels and five novellas. But I may end up writing more.
I just sent “Under My Skin” to my editor and began writing Book 3 in the series (Amanda’s story).
Through Facebook, Goodreads or leaving comments on my blog.
