Hi Friends,
I have with me today Adite Banerjie, the author of the bestselling M&B novel, The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal.
Adite Banerjie is a screenwriter based in New Delhi, India. She turned romance author when her first Harlequin romance, The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal, released in 2013. Her second book, Trouble Has a New Name, comes out in July 2014. She loves to travel, read, watch movies and play with her Irish Setter when she’s not stuck to her computer struggling with her current WIP.
Welcome to Njkinny’s World of Books, Adite!
Q1. In one

It’s about Maya

in love with her enemy’s son—how will she reconcile her love with her desire
for justice? Oops…that’s one VERY long sentence! 🙂

It was
released by Harlequin India in September 2013. Honestly speaking, I’m blown
away by the fact that people actually bought my book, read it and got back to
say that they liked it. I just hope it’s not just a case of beginner’s luck.
Fingers crossed!

inspired you to write this book?

I’d entered
the Harlequin Aspiring Authors contest in 2012 for which I needed to submit a
2000 word short story. Since revenge is a popular theme in M&B stories, I
decided to pick that theme for my entry.

Writing a
romance is very very hard! Having been an avid M&B reader, I always felt
writing one would be a breeze. But when I got down to it, I found out just how
wrong I was. Thankfully, I had a wonderful editor to guide me through the
process. And did I mention how hard it is to actually write a romance? 🙂

about a fun moment or proud experience you’ve had with your book and readers
since the book got published.

Oh, I have had
a bunch of lovely emails from readers that I shall always cherish. But I think
the most fun letter was the one where a reader told me why she prefers reading
a Western M&B to an Indian romance…because it’s not too close to home and
while you can still get the romance part of it, you don’t need to worry about
the nitty-gritty. That’s not to say she didn’t enjoy my book. But it was a
great insight, namely, romance readers want their escapist fix!

Publishing is
an extremely competitive business. If you want to get your book published, you
have to take the time out to study the craft of storytelling and hone your writing
skills so that your manuscript is the best it can be.

Dancing with the enemy
Dancing with the enemy
Krish Dev needs to find a bride and quick! With a marriage arranged by his father looming, Krish finds the key to his freedom in Maya Shome, but is this dazzling beauty really all she seems…?
Maya has only one thing in mind: revenge. But when the host of the most exclusive high society party asks her to dance what is meant to be an innocent tango, leads to an engagement with Krish—her enemy’s son!
Arranging their own marriage could work to their advantage…if they can resist mixing business with pleasure!
Excerpt:
‘The marriage would be strictly in name only. Or the deal is off.’
Krish laughed. The sound waves reverberated inside her, making her feel all warm and fuzzy.
‘You mean leave sex out of it?’
Krish’s dark eyes seemed to pick out her body vibrations even before she could.
‘Are you absolutely sure about that?’
Maya seethed. She wished she could wipe that all-knowing look off his face. If only she didn’t feel this strong surge of attraction for him—but that was her secret to keep… just one of many.
‘I’m sure you can find a discreet way of taking care of that side of things for yourself.’
He clicked his tongue in mock disapproval. ‘You haven’t been paying attention, jaaneman.’
Maya was back to worrying her lower lip and Krish leaned across the table to run a finger across her mouth.
‘I’ve told you before that I’m a one-woman guy. And I don’t share what’s mine.’
Her lips tingled at this touch even as his words held out a deep, velvety promise that made her breath catch.
Breathe, Maya, breathe! She pulled away and stuttered. ‘I…I mean it… No sex or the deal is off.’
