Ella, The Slayer. The name itself had me intrigued and then add the beautiful cover with the heroine wearing such a fetching gown, I just knew I had to check it out!
The blurb is also pretty interesting and peeks our interest at first glance.
This book is very different from the other books that I have read. I am not a fan of undead people but here I didnt mind them that much. The story flows fluidly and had me enjoying.
The author’s writing style is simple and I loved her world building where she managed to make it all very believable to me. The characters are well thought out and developed expertly. I liked Ella and Seth and enjoyed reading the scenes with these two in them.
While I generally enjoyed the book, I do feel the need to point out the grammatical errors that suddenly started popping up in the second half of the book and some scenes which were not stitched together properly. Some sequences looked out of place. I cant specifically point them without giving away the story but if you read in detail like I do then you’ll most probably pick them up.
All in all, Ella, The Slayer is a very different book that is part a fairytale retold, part horror and part fantasy. I enjoyed reading it and recommend it to all lovers of YA, fairytales with a twist and readers looking to read something a little different! 3.5 out of 5 to it. I enjoyed Anita’s style and will be checking out her other book too.
