Book Review:
Ellie Campbell is or should I say are the authors who always manage to surprise me with their books. Their books are never simple stories falling in one mold or genre. Their stories are unexpected stories full of surprises and twists that leave you guessing right till the end.
Million Dollar Question is another awesome read from the authors which had me so hooked and completely unable to make out the future events in the book. Every twist and turn came as a surprise and it seemed like nothing in the story went according to my expectations. This is a rare feat and had me thoroughly enjoying the novelty of the story’s execution.
Two women’s lives change when one unexpectedly wins a huge lottery and the other loses everything in her life from her job to her prestige. How they cope with these new developments and how there destinies are connected is a the crux of the story.
The reader is taken on a tumultuous ride to witness the journey of these two heroines’ struggles through intense emotions, some heartbreak, heartwarming romance to the final recognition of self and a memorable happily-ever-after.
The writing style is engaging, simple and frank. The characters are normal people, often flawed and each trying to live their life and understand it as each new day dawns. Rosie and Olivia were such contrasting characters and each with their own charm. I loved both their characters and while I hated Olivia, at first, with her snobbish attitude, later after watching her turn her life around, I really felt impressed by her and rooted for both, Olivia and Rosie’s happily-ever-afters. The other characters in the story are also memorable and quickly make a place in your heart. Each has one or the other lesson to teach about life and after finishing the book, I did feel more enlightened towards the workings of the world.
Swift paced with suspense, mystery and heartfelt romance, I loved reading Million Dollar Question and give it 4.5 out of 5. Strongly recommended to everyone, I look forward to reading more books by Ellie.
