Book Review:
You Are the Best Wife by Ajay K. Pandey is the true account of the author and his wife’s love story and subsequent marriage. The story is a dedication by the author to his dead wife who not only made him a better person but also gave him strength to rise above the depression following her death to do good with his life.
The cover of the book is appealing and the title intriguing enough that it had my interest piqued to know more. The blurb is simple but does the needful and is able to engage the readers’ interest in the book.
This is Ajay K. Pandey’s debut book which shows right from the start. His writing style is simple and he seems to be grappling with sentence construction at times but despite this the story is heartfelt and written passionately. The author was able to ignite and then retain my interest in his story right till the end. Each and every word seems to be written right from his heart and had me empathizing with him and then admiring his wife who comes out as a kind, loyal, intelligent and very wise woman. Had she been alive I would really have loved to meet her and get to know her!
This book had me remembering another recently read true romantic account by a yet another Indian author who also wrote about his true love, the upheaval he faced following his love’s painful death and the struggle he faced while making good the promise he had made to her just before her death. The book I kept remembering is Keeping the Promises by Dhruv Gajjar. Just like Keeping the Promises, You Are the Best Wife also had me feeling a multitude of emotions right from the dreamy happiness of finding first love to the soul shattering hopelessness of watching your soul mate die.

The author takes the reader on a journey of life right from his college days when he found his to-be-wife to facing the difficulties of getting his family agree to his marriage to the journey after his marriage that shaped his life.
The pace of the story is a bit slow in the first part and then picks up speed in the second part. I felt one with the author and was able to feel everything he wanted to convey through his book. Ajay’s effort is noteworthy and his book will surely touch a cord with every reader.
A decent and very promising effort from the author, I enjoyed reading You Are the Best Wife and spent a memorable time following the author down the memory lane. This is a book that can be read in one sitting in some four to five hours and is a great gifting option. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all lovers of heartfelt true romances.
I received the book from the author and Writers Melon and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
