Book Review:
No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie marks her foray into romantic suspense. Now if have already read her previous two romances, The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal and Trouble Has A New Name then you must be as much a fan of her writing as I am. Having loved her previous books, I was eager to checkout her leap into a new genre through this new book and I am so glad to tell you that she builds suspense too with as much ease and finesse as she does romance!
No Safe Zone takes us on a danger and thrill filled roller coaster ride spanning multiple cities. The villains are evil and the protagonists intelligent and brave. Adite has taken up the very sensitive and abhorrent crime of human trafficking especially the trafficking of girls in her book and she has developed her story around it beautifully. I was shocked, angered and saddened reading about this crime against humanity and prayed for the helpless girls caught in this web.
Qiara works for a non-profit organization that works for the well being of poor girls in the remote villages of India but when one of the girls disappears and the organization comes under scrutiny for money fraud, she travels to India to find out the truth, find the missing girl and clear her beloved organization’s name.
Kabir is an intelligence officer working on this case. He and Qiara share a romantic turned bitter past and when Qiara witnesses a murder and is chased by the killer, it is he who comes to her rescue. Amidst danger, their romance rekindles but will it last this time?
I loved both Qiara and Kabir. They are both strong characters and totally different from each other, I loved how they fought their attraction but felt helpless to curb their intense feelings for each other. The romance is passionate and hot. Adite balances the emotional and physical aspects of their relationship with ease and I connected with these characters right from the start. The past misunderstandings are also handled admirably and the suspense of that last evening all those years back revealed slowly which had me speculating all sorts of reasons why these two lovebirds didn’t get a HEA then and when the reasons did get out, I was left surprised.
The chase of trying to stop the villains behind the trafficking ring as well as staying ahead of the killer had me sitting at the edge of my seat throughout. The scenes are sketched beautifully and I went places with this book. I visited the royalty of Rajasthan and the elite of Delhi, strolled in the markets of Rajasthan and also went to London; sitting right here in my room!
The story is fast paced and had me so engaged that I just could not keep away the book until I had finished reading it. There are well calculated twists and turns added to spice the story.
The only thing that I felt could have been handled better is the end in regards to the villains. They had so much potential and I felt frightened by them especially Rathod but the end for them felt just a little easy seeing as how evil these characters were and the planning the author showed them doing for the “big event”.
Anyhow, this is something that I felt and maybe you wont. However, despite this observation, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
All in all, No Safe Zone by Adite Banerjie is an engaging and enjoyable romantic suspense with memorable characters and a hearty dose of suspense with plenty of danger thrown in for good measure. I loved reading it and give it 4 shiny stars out of 5. Recommended to all lovers of romantic suspense, I absolutely love Adite’s suspense writer persona and hope to read lots more suspense from her in the future.
I received the book from the author and publishers, Harlequin and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
