#BookReview: Walks Through Life: Stories by Santhosh K. Komaraju
When I came across Walks Through Life: Stories, I was intrigued by the title and the book cover. The cover depicts a maze with footprints which is a unique design for any book that I have seen in a long time and when I saw it, I knew I had to check it out.
The blurb is engaging but still can be made more worthy of the content inside the book. The last few lines where the author tells the readers about the book being a collection of short stories where each story reverberates the same principle of truth in its own unique way is confusing and I could not fully grasp the theme of the book. I just knew it had a few moral based stories.
However, once I started reading I slowly came to love the whole idea behind the stories and the unique execution. The author has brought to us stories that are so relatable and that took me down memory lane to my childhood when I read and heard such stories from my mother. Moral based with a valuable life lesson, each story holds a different message and is short enough to be read anytime and anywhere.
The language could have been made simpler and more fluid. At times, the sentences read unnecessarily long and stilted. They could easily have been made shorter. This being said, while I felt the above need for improvement it in no way diminished the essence of the stories that are still effectively narrated.
I loved almost all the stories and feel these make for excellent storytelling material for our kids and younger readers. I know I will be narrating these stories to my kid!
This being a debut effort, I commend the author on his effort and look forward to reading more from him in the future.
All in all, Walks Through Life: Stories by Santhosh K. Komaraju is an engaging book that can be read by anyone and at anytime. 4 stars out of 5 to it. I enjoyed reading it and Njkinny recommends this book to all lovers of folk tales, fables and moral stories.
