Where Secrets Sleep by Marta Perry takes us to Laurel Ridge which is a small town and has an Amish community. Allison Standish travels to Laurel Ridge where she has inherited a mansion which houses many shops from her grandmother. But right from the start she senses that people dont want her staying there and definitely dont want an outsider like her to inherit the mansion. As threats and dangers escalate, she has only the single father, Nick Whiting who is also one of her tenants on her side.
I have enjoyed reading books by Marta Perry in the past and this one is no exception. She sketches her settings with such ease that I could visualize the small town of Laurel Ridge with its Amish community that is small and close knit. The loved getting to know more about the Amish people, their beliefs and their way of life.
The characters are realistic people who instantly made a place in my heart. Both Nick and Allison are strong characters and butt heads right from the start. It was enjoyable watching them clash and then get closer to each other.
The plot is well conceived and executed. Marta balances the mystery of the mansion and the strange incidents happening there with the romance developing between Alliosn and Nick beautifully. The mansion, Blackburn House is given a whole character of its own and has a whole mysterious, dark and foreboding aura which sometimes gave me the creeps thinking of all the secrets hidden there and then right in the next instant the author surprised me by painting it as a cozy, loving and happy place for the tenants who have been here from a long time.

The mystery had me guessing right till the end and I loved how the author kept herself one step ahead of the reader right till the end.
The story is fast paced with genuine emotional play, heartfelt romance, a crisp plot and a mystery that is expertly developed and handled.
All in all, Where Secrets Sleep by Marta Perry is an engaging book that I loved reading and recommend it to all lovers of suspense, mystery and heartfelt clean romance. 4 out of 5 to it and I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.
