#ChildrenDaySpecial–> Must Read Books for Children Part 4- Comics Special

Hi Friends,

My list for today is all comics special which will feature some of the best loved comics by me like Tintin, Chacha Chaudhary, Archie, Batman etc.

1) Tintin

The Adventures of Tintin is a series of comic albums created by the Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi (1907–1983), who wrote under the pen name of Hergé. The series is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century. By the time of the centenary of Hergé’s birth in 2007, Tintin had been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more than 200 million copies. Herge prevented the publication of In The Land of Soviets till 1973. In this book, accompanied by his dog Snowy, Tintin leaves Brussels to go undercover in Soviet Russia. His attempts to research his story are put to the test by the Bolsheviks and Moscow’s secret police…

The right mix of courage and intelligence makes Tintin and his adventures a must read series for everyone.

2) Chacha Chaudhary

Chacha Chaudhary is a very popular Indian comic book character, created by cartoonist Pran. The comic comes in ten Indian languages including Hindi and English and has sold almost ten million copies. Chacha Chaudhary was created in 1971 for the Hindi magazine Lotpot. It soon became popular among kids and the elderly alike. A not to be missed character. Every child should know Chacha Chaudhary whose brain works faster than the computer! 🙂

3)  Bankelal

Bankelal is an Indian comic book character, one of a number of titles published by Raj Comics. He is presented as the “Hasya Samrat”(King of comedy) as the main motive is to arouse laughter and fun among readers through his mischief. As a result of a curse, whomsoever he tries to harm is blessed with good results leading to lots of laughter and mischief in between. Another great character and definitely a must read.
“Wo mara papad wale ko!” 🙂

4) Billoo

Billoo is another classic character by Pran and came out in 1973.Much like the American comic book character Archie, Billoo is fun loving, likable by girls although not so “Casanova friendly” as Archie is and loves to play cricket. No one has ever seen Billoo’s eyes due to hair covering it and his forehead.
Billoo has a pet pup called Moti. His gang includes Gabdu, Jozi, Monu, Bishamber among others. His bête noire is Bajarangi, a wrestler and Dhakkan, Bajarangi’s aide. Jozi’s dad Colonel Three Naught Three also dislikes Billoo.

The other notable characters in this comic are her neighbor Jhaptji, her friends Bhiku and Champu. Pinki has also appeared in Chacha Chaudhary and Billoo comic books.
Whenever she tries to help her neighbor Jhaptji, she always messes everything and whole neighborhood is scared of her menace doings.

6) Nagraj /Snake King

Nagraj (“Snake-King”)  is an Indian comic book character from Raj Comics, who can arguably be considered the longest-running Indian action comic Superhero. Created in the late 1980s by Sanjay Gupta, Nagraj has changed a lot in his 25 years in print, both in terms of looks as well as in stories. Despite the fact that comic culture had once almost vanished in India, his fan base continued to increase and today he is one of the most iconic characters of the Indian comic book industry.

Other iconic characters by Raj Comics that I loved and still do are Super Commando Dhruv, Doga, Parmanu, Bhediya, Tiranga, Fighter Toads, Shakti, Inspector Steel, Anthony, Super Indian, Bhokal, Tilismdev, Gamraj etc.
