Question of the Week:

How would you pitch to the biz to make your favorite book into a movie? – Suggested by

Girl of 1000 Wonders

I haven’t really liked the movies that have been made from bestselling books because somewhere I felt the main essence of the stories was compromised. If I had to pitch, I would prefer TV series instead of movies because with the new shows that I have been watching, I think the books that I love can be made into better TV shows as compared to compacting them into a 120 minute movie. I would love to see some of Nora Roberts’ books made into TV shows and even Twilight and Harry Potter, I felt could be made into better TV shows as compared to their movie counterparts.

  1. I prefer to keep my books completely separate from the television and movie screen. I create my own interpretation of the book or a picture the book's events a certain way and then get flustered when the movie twists everything around to make things "more interesting"

  2. I so agree; TV series are so much better at cramming in every detail than are movies! I love Game of Thrones and I think the best shows are based on fantasy books because then we get to see the fictional worlds brought to life! New Bloglovin' follower! 🙂

  3. I totally agree with you that the miniseries format seems to be much better for books. From what I've heard, George R.R. Martin's fantasy series has been very satisfactorily transferred to the small screen. It would be interesting to see a Nora Roberts miniseries!

As for the Twilight books, my biggest complaint is with the meadow scene in the first movie. The book version was SO much better!! Also, Bella is much more kick-butt in the books. I can't see any other actors doing those famous roles in a miniseries, though. I still love these movies, in spite of the complaints!!

I did think the Harry Potter movies were just great! They were pretty faithful to the book, IMHO. But you know, I wouldn't mind seeing an H.P. miniseries!

Thanks so much for the follow and the comment!! I'm now following your blog with GFC & Bloglovin'!! : )

  4. Agreed. If they are going to make anything with books they should invest in TV series rather than simple movies that never do them justice.

  5. Ooooh, a HP TV series. Now there's a delectable thought! The potential for things to have been included that weren't in the movies would be amazing! Followed on Bloglovin and FB!
